“We are a skilled group of t shirt artists and screen printers working hard to bring our customers outstanding quality t shirts at a great price. Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We offer specialty custom discharge t shirts, jumbo over-sized, standard custom screen printing, and much more.”
T Shirt Wonders was founded after Richard Comiskey left the Marines in 2010.
The rest of the story:
After High school, several odd end jobs led Richard to fall into a screen printing business called Little Oscars in South Haven, MI. Some would say that he was young and dumb and was tired of the small-town life. From there he moved out to Kalamazoo, MI where he had worked doing screen-printing for a lot of the major companies in the local Area.
Around 2004, he felt the desire to branch out and take on a more leadership role and in the same time serve his country. On January 3rd of 2005 he signed that dotted line to enlist into the United States Marines. He served as a Communications Technician. Basically, that's a fancy way of saying that he worked as an electrician. Throughout the 5 years that he had the privilege to serve his country, he was able to go to Japan, Thailand, and South Korea. It helped to reinforce the love for America and his understanding of how good we have it over here.
In late 2010 his contract was up and he had to decide whether or not to re enlist, or to part ways with the Marines. With this fork in the road, he had to make a decision. Re enlist and keep doing what he loved, or get out and make sure that he was there for his newborn Son.
In 2010 he left the Marines and moved back to Michigan to start his own screen printing business. It took a big leap of faith to start his business in a small garage. There were several times that he had to take on side jobs just to pay the bills. From Scrapping metal, to Delivering Pizza like an asshole and more. There is one thing that he always knew that he could offer that no other screen printer could even touch. That wasn’t customer service. Most businesses now days lack the desire to care about the customer. They just look at the next job as a number. He takes every job personally and makes sure that it is completed correctly and on time. There were several nights where he was up until 3 or 4 in the morning just to make sure that the job was completed for the customer on time.
When asked about his success, he would say without a doubt that it was because of the privilege he had to be able to serve great customers. Richard has said “I have never sold a t-shirt in my life, but I have sold is a guarantee that you will have your order completed on time just the way you want it”
Fast forward to present day and you'll find T shirt Wonders located in Jenison, MI. In a building that is about 5 times the size of the garage he started out of. Instead of only being able serve a hand full of customers, we have grown too much bigger size where they are able to serve many more times that. T Shirt Wonders stands out from the rest, and it is because of their dedication to their customers, even after the sale.
